Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – Dermatology

Full-time | 40 hours per week | Day shift

We are seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join our busy dermatology practice. The successful candidate will support patient assessments, clinical photography, minor surgical procedures, and the daily flow of the clinic. Dermatology experience is preferred; training will be provided as needed.

Responsibilities

- Complete brief preliminary patient assessments, documenting the reason for referral or follow-up and relevant concerns for physician review.
- Take clinical photographs and upload them accurately to patient charts.
- Room patients and prepare them for assessments and procedures.
- Clean and reset examination and procedure rooms between appointments.
- Prepare instruments, supplies, and surgical trays for shave biopsies, punch biopsies, surgical excisions, and other minor surgical procedures.
- Assist the physician with procedures and provide patient instructions within the RPN’s scope of practice.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explain what to expect during appointments and procedures, and help patients feel comfortable.
- Perform instrument cleaning, packaging, sterilization,



and related documentation in accordance with applicable public health and infection prevention and control requirements. Additional training will be provided as needed.
- Potentially assist with FotoFinder whole-body photography and skin surveillance, as well as photodynamic therapy, following appropriate training.
- Maintain supplies and help keep the clinic organized and running efficiently.

Qualifications

- Current registration in good standing as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Dermatology experience preferred.
- Experience assisting with minor surgical procedures and instrument reprocessing is an asset.
- Experience using Accuro EMR is an asset.
- Robust patient communication skills, including the ability to explain instructions clearly, listen attentively, and reassure anxious patients.
- A compassionate, professional approach to patient care.
- Solid attention to detail and accurate clinical documentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a busy clinical environment.
- Comfort using electronic medical records and learning clinical photography systems.
