About TransX

The TransX Group of Companies is one of the premier transportation and logistics providers in North America. With a vast network across Canada and the United States, our success is driven by our commitment to safety, service excellence, and above all, our people.

We are seeking an energetic, analytical, and proactive Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources & Total Rewards, the Human Resources Generalist delivers essential operational and advisory HR support across designated business units.

In this role, you will take ownership of full-cycle operational talent acquisition, provide trusted coaching and advisory support to frontline supervisors, safeguard compliance with federal labour standards, and maintain clean HRIS records. Additionally, you will provide critical secondary cross-coverage for Total Rewards and Benefits administration while bringing a strong diagnostic mindset to continuously improve internal workflows.

Key Responsibilities

- Full-Cycle Recruitment & Talent Sourcing (25%): Partner closely with hiring managers to review job requisitions and refine job profiles. Source, screen, and interview candidates for operational, administrative, and frontline specialist positions using structured behavioral assessments. Coordinate verifications/background checks, draft offers within established pay scales, and deliver comprehensive onboarding programs to maximize first-year retention.
- Employee Relations & Frontline Advisory (20%): Provide first-tier advice and interpretation to supervisors and team members on company policies, collective agreements, and employment standards. Guide supervisors through progressive discipline and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). Conduct objective fact-finding and intake on workplace concerns, interpersonal conflicts, and grievances, and support employee engagement programs.

- Total Rewards & Advantages Administration – Backup Support (15%): Provide reliable secondary administration for group health, dental, life insurance, and RRSP enrollments, changes, and terminations. Assist with disability claims management and return-to-work planning. Provide coverage on salary band queries and support monthly benefits billing reconciliations alongside Payroll.
- Regulatory Compliance & Policy Adherence (15%): Champion adherence to the Canada Labour Code (Part III), provincial human rights codes, and standard operating procedures. Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), maintain and draft updates for the Employee Handbook, and conduct routine personnel file audits for audit-readiness.
- HRIS Data Integrity & Analytics (15%): Process master lifecycle events (hires, transfers, leaves, exits, and adjustments) in ADP Workforce Now with high precision. Generate and analyze monthly HR metrics (turnover, time-to-fill, headcount, absenteeism) and validate data for mandatory Employment Equity reporting.
- Continuous Improvement & Workflow Optimization (10%): Apply natural diagnostic curiosity to evaluate departmental workflows, uncover operational bottlenecks, and formulate actionable, data-backed solutions. Standardize interview toolkits and operational templates, research best practices, and assist in rolling out company-wide programs (performance appraisals, engagement surveys).

Qualifications & Competencies

- Education:

Post-secondary diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of progressive Human Resources experience (e.g., HR Coordinator, Specialist, or Generalist).
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, or a federally regulated environment is considered an asset.
- Designation: CPHR designation or active CPHR Candidate status is considered an asset.
- Employment Legislation: Solid understanding of Canadian employment standards, human rights codes, and the Canada Labour Code (Part III).
- Systems & Tools: Hands-on experience with HRIS and ATS platforms (experience with ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred); intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to advise managers independently.
