Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Criminal Law Paralegal to support lawyers throughout criminal case preparation and administration. The ideal candidate brings strong research, writing, and organizational skills, handles sensitive information with discretion, and can manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.

Duties

- Conduct legal and factual research using resources such as CanLii; summarize findings for lawyer review.
- Assist with case preparation, including organizing disclosure, tracking deadlines, and drafting pre-trial applications.
- Draft, format, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, and other case materials.
- Support client and witness interviews by preparing materials, taking notes, and organizing follow-up information.
- Perform data entry and clerical and administrative tasks, including document management and case-file updates.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and other parties, using appropriate phone etiquette.




- Protect confidential information and follow office procedures and applicable legal requirements.

Requirements

- Paralegal education required;
- Minimum of five (5) years experience working in criminal law;
- Strong legal drafting, writing, proofreading, and research skills.
- Proficiency with CanLII and Clio, or the ability to learn legal research and document-management systems.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Interviewing, administrative, clerical, data-entry, and filing experience preferred.
- Professional communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and discretion when handling confidential matters.

Pay: $45,600.00-$90,100.00 per year
