Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Stable Hand to join our team that will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of client horses under the supervision of the Horse Manager. The ideal candidate will be passionate about horse care and possess the physical stamina required for the demands of the role. As a Stable Hand, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the health and well-being of our horses and ensuring that the stable environment is clean and organized.
Key duties include feeding, blanketing, turning in and out, tending to the horses' shelter, food, and water, monitoring the health of the horses, ensuring a safe and clean environment for both horses and clients, contributing to the overall operation and success of the ranch. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of teamwork, communication skills, initiative, flexibility, and reliability, and have a superb attention to detail and be always highly professional.

Responsibilities

- Provide daily care for horses, including feeding, blanketing and turning out horses in the morning, turning in at the end of the day;
- mucking and bedding stalls and maintain cleanliness throughout the stable area.
- General cleaning duties around the facility to ensure the highest degree of cleanliness at all times;
- Feeding the horses according to pre-set guidelines and schedules;
- Monitor horses for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to horse manager.
- Operate farm machinery safely for tasks such as moving hay or bedding; Operating tractors, quads, and manure spreaders
- Perform heavy lifting tasks related to feed, hay bales, and equipment as necessary.
- Maintain an organized inventory of supplies and equipment used in daily operations.
- Minor maintenance of the stable facilities, where required
- Ad hoc projects,



and other duties as assigned
- preference to candidates able to work weekends (full time hours will include two days off)
- note: this is *not* a position that involves horse-riding nor grooming/tacking for clients

Experience

- Previous experience working with or handling horses; a willingness to learn is essential.
- Familiarity with heavy lifting techniques to safely handle materials and equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus for maintaining farm machinery used in daily operations.
- Experience in a farm or stable environment is beneficial but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- An understanding of the care and attention needed while caring for animals;
- Ability to lift 60+ pounds, and perform physically repetitive tasks;
- Must be able to take initiative and be proactive;
- Be courteous, discreet, honest, reliable and responsible;
- Must be adaptable and flexible;
- Follow instructions precisely and adhere to established processes and procedures;
- Possess a great attitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Must be able to communicate and work well in a team;
- Must be observant and have good attention to detail
- A minimum of a high school education with 3-5 years of experience in a related position;
- Provide own reliable transportation to the property and hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history;
- Must be legally able to work in Canada; and
- Successfully complete a criminal, credit and driving backcheck process.

Job Types: Full-time, Part time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
