Bow River Medical Specialists
Calgary
A well-established, privately owned Calgary organization operating medical clinics and a large accredited surgical facility, alongside a substantial commercial real estate portfolio, is seeking an accomplished healthcare operations professional. The successful candidate will work closely with the owners and existing leadership team to strengthen clinical operations and support future growth.
This is a long-term succession and leadership-development chance—not an immediate appointment to manage every business. Over approximately 3–5 years, responsibilities and decision-making authority may expand as the individual learns the organization, demonstrates results, and earns mutual trust.
Healthcare Experience Is Essential
Applicants must have significant, direct operational experience in healthcare delivery settings such as surgical centres, hospitals, multi-specialty clinics or other complex ambulatory-care organizations. General business management, financial analysis, consulting or ownership of a non-healthcare business alone will not meet this requirement.
We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on familiarity with:
- Operating rooms, peri-operative services, outpatient surgery or high-volume medical clinics
- Physician and nursing team coordination, staffing, scheduling and patient flow
- Clinical quality, patient safety, infection prevention and operational risk
- Accreditation, regulatory inspections, healthcare policies and compliance
- Medical equipment, supplies, vendor relationships and clinical service expansion
Knowledge of Alberta’s healthcare environment, CPSA-accredited surgical facilities and publicly funded or private surgical services is a strong advantage.
What You Will Do Initially
- Work alongside owners, physicians, nursing leaders and administrators to understand existing operations.
- Lead selected healthcare operational projects and help resolve practical staffing, workflow, equipment and service-delivery challenges.
- Support accreditation readiness, policy implementation, quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate clinical service opportunities, capacity, resource needs, costs and implementation plans.
- Collaborate on relevant facility, renovation, procurement and financial decisions as responsibilities grow.
What We Value
Integrity, sound judgment, initiative, strong work ethic, resourcefulness and follow-through. You should be comfortable on the clinical floor as well as in a management meeting; able to work respectfully with physicians, nurses and other professionals; and willing to learn before seeking broader authority.
Qualifications
Required: substantial healthcare operations experience with demonstrated responsibility for people, processes, clinical services or facility performance. We welcome both experienced healthcare executives and high-potential healthcare managers with a strong track record. Relevant education in healthcare administration, nursing, business or a related field is preferred.
Compensation & Application
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and initial scope. Long-term growth and performance-based incentives may be considered as responsibilities increase.
Please submit a résumé and brief cover letter describing (1) the healthcare settings and clinical services you have managed, (2) your direct responsibility for staff, clinical operations, quality or accreditation, and (3) two examples of operational problems you personally solved, including outcomes.
Applications will be treated confidentially.
Pay: $50,300.00-$112,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
