Job Overview

The Manager in Training develops the skills and experience needed to support daily store operations and prepare for future leadership responsibilities. This hands-on role combines customer service, retail sales, team management, and administrative work. The successful candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working with customers and staff, and eager to learn retail management practices. Timeline to full management duties is six months.

Duties

- Support store operations, including opening and closing procedures, merchandising, pricing, and inventory purchasing.
- Provide attentive customer service, assist with sales, and help resolve customer concerns using sound negotiation and communication skills.
- Operate the POS system and handle cashiering, cash handling, basic math, and bookkeeping tasks accurately.
- Support sales management, marketing activities, and store management goals.
- Communicate professionally in person and by phone, demonstrating strong phone etiquette and time management.




- Apply organizational skills and leadership while balancing customer needs, staff support, and operational priorities.

Qualifications

- Experience in retail sales, customer service, cashiering, or a related customer-facing role is preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems, merchandising, pricing, purchasing, cash handling, payroll, budgeting, or bookkeeping is beneficial.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Comfortable with basic math and accurate handling of transactions and records.
- Professional phone etiquette and a customer-focused approach.
- Some knowledge of Computers, software and networking is an asset. Windows, Office, Email Client familiarity an asset.
- Must be familiar with the Greater Victoria Area.

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
