The Controller serves as the senior financial leader, managing the accounting department and providing critical financial oversight for projects and overall company operations. They act as a strategic partner to the executive team, ensuring that construction projects remain profitable and compliant with industry standards. This position reports directly to the President.

Core Responsibilities : Oversee all financial aspects, including the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements. Liaise with and provide information to external accountants, bank and surety company.





Track project-level profitability through Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, job costing and variance analysis.

Ensure adherence to accounting standards. Maintain company regulatory registrations.

Monitor cash requirements, manage banking relationships and oversee accounts receivable and payable functions.

Supervise and mentor administrative staff.

Implement and maintain systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.

Act as Company Security Office (CSO) for PWGSC, set up and maintain employees on the PWGSC site.

Coordinate any IT requirements with external IT consultants.

Maintain registrations on company fleet vehicles, order office supplies, liaise with insurance and surety providers to ensure adequate coverage.

Perform full accounting processes for several small related companies.

Required Skills & Qualifications : A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration would be considered an asset.

CPA designation is preferred.

Five to ten years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two to five years in a construction-specific controllership role.

Experience with Microsoft Office Products is required. Experience with Maestro Technologies construction accounting software is considered an asset.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills are necessary along with strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and time management.
