This position makes independent decisions for the Chief Building Official regarding the Building By-law and permitting. It oversees Certified Professional projects, reviews complex plans, and coordinates Project Coordinators. Requirements

Degree in architecture or civil or mechanical engineering

Qualified Engineer or Architect registration eligibility in British Columbia

Considerable plans examination and Building By-law interpretation experience

Knowledge of BC Building Code, fire protection codes, and standards

Leadership, mentoring, supervisory, and communication skills

Support Vancouver permitting through Building By-law expertise, complex plans examination, Certified Skilled oversight, and clear technical guidance.
