Job Summary The Café Assistant supports daily café operations by preparing and serving food and beverages, assisting customers, and keeping the service and kitchen areas clean and organized. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working with people, follows food safety practices, and can manage tasks efficiently in a busy food service setting.

Responsibilities

- Prepare food and beverages according to café procedures and food safety standards.
- Serve customers promptly and provide friendly, attentive customer service.
- Operate the POS system to enter orders and process transactions; experience with Micros POS is helpful.
- Handle cash and assist with cashiering, including making change and maintaining accurate transactions.
- Answer customer questions about menu items and support appropriate upselling.
- Keep counters, dining areas, equipment, and kitchen workspaces clean and sanitary.
- Follow food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures, including proper storage and cleaning practices.




- Restock supplies and communicate when ingredients or service items need replenishing.
- Work collaboratively with café and kitchen team members while managing priorities during busy periods.

Skills

- Customer service, serving, and cashiering skills.
- Food preparation and food handling knowledge; familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices.
- POS experience; Micros POS experience is a plus.
- Cash handling and basic math skills, including accurate transaction processing.
- Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Food service, restaurant, food industry, or kitchen experience is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly, work as part of a team, and maintain a welcoming and professional manner.

Pay: $17.60-$18.60 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 – 30.0 per week
