Overview

- The Casual Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) supports the BMC Pain Clinic by providing safe, high-quality imaging during fluoroscopy-guided procedures.
- This role works closely with physicians and the clinical team to prepare patients, operate imaging equipment, and maintain a safe and organized procedure environment.

- The position is casual, with work scheduled according to clinic needs.

Responsibilities

- Prepare the fluoroscopy room, equipment, and supplies before procedures; verify that equipment is functioning properly.

- Confirm patient identity, explain imaging-related steps in clear, reassuring language, and support patient comfort and privacy.
- Position patients and operate fluoroscopy equipment to obtain images requested by the physician, following established protocols.
- Apply radiation-safety practices, including appropriate shielding and exposure-minimization techniques, for patients and staff.

- Monitor image quality and collaborate with the physician during procedures to support accurate imaging.
- Document imaging activities and complete required records in accordance with clinic procedures and privacy standards.




- Clean and restock the room between procedures, and report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.

- Communicate professionally with patients and colleagues, using medical terminology accurately.
- Be familiar and follow the BMC Pain clinic policies and procedures.

Requirements

- Current registration or licensure as a Medical Radiation Technologist, as required by the applicable jurisdiction.
- Relevant education and clinical experience in medical imaging; fluoroscopy experience is an asset.

- Working knowledge of radiation protection, patient positioning, imaging equipment, and infection-prevention practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to communicate clinical information clearly.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a patient-centered approach.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical setting and adapt to changing procedure schedules.

Pay: $31.58-$56.15 per hour Expected hours: No more than 18.0 per week
