About us

JNS Industries Inc. is a Health Canada-licensed cannabis producer based in Brantford, Ontario, and the home of the Sixty Seven Sins brand. We supply provincial and territorial cannabis distributors across Canada and serve the medical market, and our business has grown quickly over the past year.

We are hiring our first dedicated bookkeeper and administrative assistant. This is a hands-on role for an organized, self-directed person who wants to own the company’s books, build reliable month-end routines and keep the office running smoothly. You will work directly with ownership and have a real impact on how the business is managed.

What you’ll doAccounting and bookkeeping (about 60% of the role)

- Process accounts payable: enter and code bills accurately, manage payment runs and maintain vendor records.
- Invoice provincial distributors and medical customers, apply payments, follow up on overdue accounts and reconcile remittances.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, loan and clearing accounts every month.
- Prepare biweekly payroll and process remittances, WSIB, records of employment and year-end T4s; reconcile temporary staffing agency invoices.

- Prepare and file monthly CRA cannabis excise duty returns and GST/HST returns, and keep the related liability accounts reconciled.
- Run a consistent month-end close: accruals, prepaid expenses, inventory reconciliation with our seed-to-sale system and a monthly reporting package for ownership.
- Maintain a clean, well-organized chart of accounts and support our external CPA with year-end and tax filings.

Administration (about 40% of the role)

- Manage incoming phone calls and the general inbox, and coordinate with suppliers, couriers and customers.
- Prepare purchase orders and shipping documentation, and follow up on orders and deliveries.
- Maintain organized, accurate electronic files and business records.
- Order office and facility supplies and help manage schedules and appointments.
- Support the management team with administrative tasks and special projects as the company grows.

What you bring

- 3+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, including payroll and GST/HST.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, accruals and account reconciliations.
- Excellent organization, accuracy and follow-through,

and the ability to manage your own workload.
- Explicit, professional written and verbal communication.
- Discretion when handling confidential financial and business information.

Nice to have

- Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, food or another inventory-based or regulated industry.
- Experience with excise duty or other indirect tax filings.
- Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation, or a diploma or degree in accounting.

Requirements

- Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Must successfully complete a police background check (licensed facility).
- Able to work on-site in Brantford, Monday to Friday.

What we offer

- Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
- Benefits: Group benefits and paid vacation.
- Growth: A key role in a growing Canadian company, with direct access to ownership and room to grow as the finance function expands.

How to apply Apply through Indeed with your resume and a short cover letter describing your bookkeeping experience and the accounting software you have used.
