We’re Hiring: GCP Senior Data Engineer – Lead Role

Location: Canada (Remote)

Aptino Inc. is looking for an experienced GCP Senior Data Engineer / Data Engineering Lead to lead a team of 10 engineers and drive the design, development, and optimization of scalable data engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

This is a leadership-focused role requiring hands-on technical expertise and proven experience managing onshore and offshore data engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and mentor a team of 10 data engineers across onshore and offshore teams.
- Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Beam, Dataflow, Spark, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
- Architect and manage BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Fusion solutions.
- Establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, and implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Optimize pipeline performance, query efficiency, and GCP costs, including partitioning and slot reservations.
- Implement monitoring, logging, data quality, lineage, and metadata management.
- Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, and analysts to support advanced analytics and machine learning use cases.

Required Skills:

✅ Proven experience leading data engineering teams, including onshore and offshore resources.





✅ Robust hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

✅ Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java/Scala, and distributed processing frameworks such as Spark and Apache Beam.

✅ Experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer (Airflow).

✅ Strong knowledge of Terraform, Git, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

✅ Experience with scalable data architectures, pipeline optimization, and production support.

Important: This is a lead position, not an individual-contributor-only Senior Data Engineer role. Candidates must have proven team leadership experience.

Nice to Have:

- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
- Experience with real-time data processing.
- Familiarity with Vertex AI and multi-cloud environments.
- Knowledge of dbt, Data Catalog, and data governance practices.
