Intellectual property counsel in the Greater Toronto Area will shape patent strategy, portfolio management, and technology commercialization guidance. Location remains TBD.

This Legal Counsel position supports innovation, intellectual property, and technology development initiatives. You will advise executive leadership, researchers, engineers, and business stakeholders. The work spans patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, and intellectual property risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Develop intellectual property strategies aligned with business objectives

Manage domestic and international patent and trademark portfolios

Identify, evaluate, and protect current innovations

Support licensing, commercialization, and partnership initiatives

Advise on freedom-to-operate and intellectual property risks

Requirements

Experience in in-house intellectual property law

Licensed lawyer in Ontario

Significant patent strategy or portfolio management experience

Experience supporting technology development or research activities

Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Apply intellectual property strategy, legal judgment, and commercialization experience to support innovation across a growing portfolio.
