Lead digital journalism for Globalnews.ca as an Online Supervisor in Toronto, combining reporting, editing, and newsroom coordination onsite. Help shape daily coverage.

Reporting to the Managing Editor for Local Coverage, this full time position oversees the latter part of the daily news cycle. You will report stories, guide online staff, and create quality content for digital platforms. The work includes mentoring reporters, supporting regional coverage, and using social media effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Encourage and oversee compelling online content production

Write, post, promote, and vet digital stories

Mentor reporters in journalism and online practices

Monitor site performance and optimize coverage





Schedule journalists for region-wide coverage seven days weekly

Requirements

Post-secondary journalism, communications, or related education

Minimum seven years’ major-market print or online experience

Required supervising, team leadership, and editing experience

Proficiency with social media including Snapchat and Instagram

Excellent communication, organization, and deadline-management skills

Bring reporting, editing, mentoring, and digital leadership experience to Global News coverage and audience engagement in Toronto.
