Overview

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager who combines practical millwork knowledge with strong organizational skills, independent judgment, and a genuine sense of ownership.

You will serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers after a project is awarded, working directly with company ownership, drafting personnel, shop-floor staff, suppliers, and installers to successfully deliver projects.

We need someone who understands how cabinetry and millwork are actually built, can anticipate and resolve technical challenges, and is comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility for outcomes.

You will have significant autonomy and the opportunity to play a central role in the growth and development of our company.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Ownership

- Take ownership of assigned projects from initial handoff through final installation and completion.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day technical contact for customers, general contractors, designers, and architects.
- Coordinate site measurements, shop drawings, approvals, procurement, production, deliveries, and installations.
- Develop and maintain realistic project schedules, tracking milestones and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Identify potential problems early and develop practical solutions without requiring constant direction.
- Coordinate changes in scope, document revisions, and identify cost or schedule impacts.

Technical Coordination

- Review architectural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and site conditions.
- Understand cabinet construction methods, material specifications, hardware systems, and installation requirements.
- Coordinate with drafting personnel to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and suitable for manufacturing.
- Translate approved drawings and project requirements into clear instructions for the production team.
- Resolve technical issues involving dimensions, materials, construction details, hardware, and installation conditions.

- Ensure designs are practical to manufacture, install, and maintain.

Production & Installation

- Work closely with shop management to establish production requirements and priorities.
- Coordinate material orders, hardware requirements, and external suppliers.
- Monitor project progress on the shop floor and proactively address manufacturing challenges.
- Ensure production meets approved drawings, quality standards, and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate installers, site readiness, deficiencies, and project closeout.

Qualifications

Required

- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, woodworking manufacturing, or a closely related field.
- Strong practical understanding of cabinet construction, fabrication methods, materials, and hardware.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and detailed millwork shop drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects, solve technical problems, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with customers and trades.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and independent judgment.
- Ability to work effectively with shop-floor personnel and company ownership.

Preferred

- Previous experience in millwork project management, production coordination, technical drafting, or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience in a cabinetmaking or architectural millwork manufacturing workplace.
- Familiarity with CNC manufacturing, frameless cabinetry, laminate casework, MDF, veneers, and commercial millwork.

- Knowledge of Blum and other architectural hardware systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or comparable drafting and manufacturing software.
- Experience coordinating site installations and general contractor requirements.

Who We're Looking For Beyond technical qualifications, we are particularly interested in your approach to work.

The right person

- Takes ownership rather than waiting for instructions.
- Enjoys solving difficult technical and operational problems.
- Thinks independently and brings solutions, not just questions.
- Communicates proactively with customers and colleagues.
- Is comfortable making decisions and being accountable for them.
- Is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Has the ambition to grow professionally and take on increasing responsibility.
- Thrives in a hands-on, entrepreneurial business environment.

What We Offer
- Competitive compensation based on experience and demonstrated capability.
- A meaningful leadership role in a growing manufacturing company.
- Direct collaboration with company ownership and substantial involvement in business operations.
- Significant autonomy and responsibility for project outcomes.
- Exposure to a variety of residential, commercial, and institutional millwork projects.
- Opportunity to develop into a more senior technical or operational leadership position as the business expands.

How to Apply Please submit your résumé and a brief description of your relevant millwork or cabinetry experience.

We are particularly interested in hearing about projects you have personally coordinated or delivered, technical challenges you have solved, and the responsibilities you have independently managed.

We value practical ability, initiative, accountability, and a willingness to grow.

Pay: $80,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
