Quality Coordinator (Steel Fabrication & Machine Shop)

Continental Conveyor is a well-established group of privately owned companies, based in Napanee, Ontario and Thetford Mines, Quebec. We design and manufacture bulk material handling equipment for a Canadian and international client base. We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Coordinator to join our team.

In this role, you will ensure our manufactured goods match drawing dimensions and tolerances, engineering specifications, and client requirements. You will spend your time split 75/25 between the shop floor performing inspections and the office managing quality documentation. You will be deeply involved in identifying ongoing continuous improvement in all manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection & Testing:

· Perform dimensional and visual inspections on fabricated structural steel assemblies.

· Verify weld quality, weld sizes, and fit-ups against fabrication drawings.

· Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

· Perform paint inspections including thickness, quality, and adhesion tests.

Compliance & Documentation:

· Maintain the shop's Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and CWB welding standards .

· Compile comprehensive quality assurance documentation for clients.

· Issue and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring effective root-cause analysis and corrective actions are completed.

Shop Floor Collaboration:

· Work closely with project managers, detailing teams, welding supervisors, and production personnel to resolve fabrication issues early.

· Monitor calibration records for shop tools, welding machines,



and inspection equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience & Education:

· Experience in quality assurance/control specifically within structural steel fabrication or heavy industrial manufacturing is an asset.

· Education: Technical diploma or degree in a related field, or equivalent trade experience.

Technical Skills:

· Advanced ability to read and interpret structural blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.

· Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, weld gauges, tape measures).

· Strong computer skills, including experience with MS Office and production/QMS tracking software.

Soft Skills:

· Solid communication with coworkers in all areas of the business

· Ability to cooperate and interact productively with all employees and third party inspectors and auditors

· Problem-solving capabilities

· Excellent attention to detail

· Self motivation and aptitude for completing hands on quality checks in a fabrication shop environment to positively affect manufacturing processes

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
