Location: Calgary, Alberta preferred; candidates prepared to establish regular Calgary presence considered Full-Time, Permanent

The Chance

An established, independent Canadian wealth-management firm seeks an experienced Head of Investments to lead investment strategy, portfolio construction, external-manager oversight and investment decision-making across its investment platform. Serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, the firm combines traditional investment management, select alternative investments and comprehensive financial planning.

The successful candidate will collaborate with fund managers, portfolio managers, advisors, an Investment Committee and executive leadership. The role offers meaningful ownership of a growing investment platform and potential progression to Chief Investment Officer.

Our Investment Approach

The firm emphasizes disciplined asset allocation, diversification, rigorous investment and manager selection, and long-term portfolio construction. Drawing on institutional and endowment-style principles, its portfolios combine public markets with carefully selected private equity, private credit, real estate and other alternative strategies. Investment recommendations are grounded in research, portfolio-level risk, disciplined due diligence and governance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead investment philosophy, asset allocation, portfolio construction and decision-making within approved authority.
- Oversee client portfolios and firm-managed investment funds, including performance, diversification, liquidity, risk and positioning.
- Develop and refine investment models and portfolio-construction frameworks as the client base evolves.

- Lead external-manager sourcing, selection, KYP, due diligence, ongoing monitoring and research priorities.
- Evaluate traditional and alternative investments for their role within the total portfolio.
- Provide investment leadership within the Investment Committee; present clear recommendations, document decisions and strengthen accountability.
- Develop regular investment commentary; support advisors and participate in sophisticated HNW/UHNW client discussions.
- Mentor investment professionals and contribute to scalable investment processes and organizational capabilities.

Candidate Qualifications

- Significant professional experience in portfolio management, asset allocation, institutional investing or investment management; 10+ years progressive relevant experience preferred.
- Demonstrated accountability for investment decisions and outcomes; strong portfolio construction, multi-asset and risk-management knowledge.
- Meaningful alternatives/private-market investment experience and external-manager due-diligence expertise.
- Ability to lead investment processes, develop recommendations and direct investment professionals or research resources.
- Investment Committee experience, sound analytical judgment, and outstanding communication with sophisticated clients.
- Currently registered or eligible to become appropriately registered under applicable Canadian securities rules.

- CFA Charter strongly preferred; CIM with substantial relevant experience considered, subject to regulatory eligibility.
- Relevant degree in finance, economics, business or related discipline.

Relevant Background

Experience in independent wealth or asset management, institutional multi-asset platforms, investment fund management, pensions, endowments, OCIO organizations or sophisticated family offices is relevant. The ideal candidate pairs institutional-quality investment judgment with an entrepreneurial, collaborative and client-oriented leadership style.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

- Meaningful responsibility for portfolio construction, investment decisions and oversight.
- Exposure to a differentiated combination of public and private-market strategies.
- Opportunity to shape investment processes, governance and team capability in an established independent firm.
- Direct engagement with sophisticated private-wealth clients and advisors.
- Long-term career development and potential CIO progression.

Compensation & Benefits

A competitive executive package commensurate with qualifications and scope, including base salary, performance-based annual incentive and comprehensive benefits. Long-term career progression is available; detailed terms will be discussed with qualified candidates.

Application Process

Interested candidates are invited to submit a résumé emphasizing investment decision-making, investment leadership, traditional and alternative investments, and external-manager oversight. Applications will be reviewed confidentially. Additional information about the organization and opportunity will be provided to qualified candidates during the selection process
