Shop Manager, Red Seal Automotive Service Technician

Ideal has been on Victoria Street since 1974. When we took it over, the shop needed rebuilding from the inside: the systems, the paperwork, the way work gets checked before it goes out the door. We've done a lot of that work. What we don't have yet is the person who runs the floor.

That's this job. You'll lead a small crew, and you'll be the one who decides whether a job is done right. The crew wants to learn, and you'll be the one teaching them.

What you'll own

- The quality call on every vehicle before it's released. If it isn't right, it doesn't go.
- Training and signing off apprentices, and keeping their ITA progress moving.
- Workflow on the floor: who's on what, what's stuck, what's next.
- Fewer comebacks, with a real number we track.
- A shop layout and workstations that make sense. We're redoing it, and we want your input.

Your first 90 days

- Sit down with each tech and apprentice, learn where they really are, and set a training plan with each one.
- Take over final sign-off on all shop work.
- Make our tech worksheet and time standards part of every job, not just paperwork.
- Walk the shop with us and help lock in the new layout.
- Get a comeback number in place and start pushing it down.

You've done this before

- Red Seal Automotive Service Technician
- Run a shop or led a crew, and signed off other techs' work




- Trained apprentices and cared whether they got better

- Strong diagnostics, especially electrical and drivability
- Mitchell 1 experience
- Tire and alignment experience
- A calm way of holding people to a standard without making it personal

What we offer

- $55 to $68 per hour depending on experience, paid every two weeks, guaranteed hours
- Monday to Friday, no weekends
- 4% vacation pay
