About Red Road Recovery

Culture. Community. Recovery. Red Road Recovery is an Indigenous-centred, land-based addiction recovery organization in British Columbia. People who come to us remember the ceremony and the healing they found here. We work in close partnership with First Nations, including the Tŝilhqot’in National Government, and we hold CARF accreditation. Our people are the heart of the work, and many of them bring their own lived experience of recovery.

About the location

The Solar Site farm in the Williams Lake and Chilcotin region will offer pre-treatment and primary treatment, working in conjunction with a nearby post-treatment centre. This role is based there. The farm is a place to heal on the land. It has small homes for clients and for our team, a kitchen and dining hall, and shared spaces where everyone gathers each day. We plan to open in early December 2026 and to grow to up to 25 clients.

The role

As Executive Director, you lead treatment and the team at the Solar Site farm. You will help a brand new team come together, get ready to welcome our first clients, and make sure every client receives safe, caring and culturally grounded care every day. This role leads, staffs and manages a new team of upwards of 35 staff through training and opening,

and through growth to up to 25 clients. This role is about leadership, running treatment operations well, and caring about people and community. Experience running a treatment centre or a similar residential health program is required.

What you’ll do

· Lead the day-to-day running of pre-treatment and primary treatment at the Solar Site farm.

· Lead training for the new team before opening, starting in early November.

· Hire the cultural lead and the counsellor, and help shape the rest of the team with the Operations Manager.

· Work alongside the cultural lead, Elders and Knowledge Keepers so that culture and ceremony are a respected part of daily life on the farm. Land- or horse-based activity will be part of the day only where it is safe and appropriate.

· Run a full practice day with the team before opening, so everyone is ready on day one, and welcome our first clients.

· Agree with the counselling team how counselling works on site, including the daily timetable and how private sessions are held.

· Review the first months with the team in February 2027 and decide together what to change.

· Plan the growth to up to 25 clients, including hiring and training new team members in time.

· Look after the site budget, quality, safety and compliance, including our accreditation standards.

· Build strong relationships with our partners at the Tŝilhqot’in National Government, local First Nations, referral partners and the wider Williams Lake and Chilcotin community.

· Work closely with the Operations Manager, who runs the site, the facilities and the operations crew.

What you bring

· Real leadership experience: you have led a team, built trust and helped people do their best work.

· A strong background in mental health, substance use and addiction recovery, and a deep understanding of the people we serve.

· Experience managing budgets, staff, quality and compliance.

· Strong ties to community, and respect for First Nations ways of knowing, culture and protocol.

· A calm, steady way of working when plans change,

and the ability to make good decisions with the team.

· Clear, kind communication with clients, staff, families and partners.

Requirements

· Experience running a treatment centre or a similar residential health program is required.

· A criminal record check.

· At least 20 hours of training in one or more of these subjects: counselling; crisis intervention and conflict resolution; psychosocial intervention for substance use disorders; trauma-informed practice.

· Assets, not requirements: clinical training or credentials in addictions, mental health or health care, and knowledge of, or lived experience in, Tŝilhqot’in and Interior First Nations communities and cultures, and of the Williams Lake and Chilcotin region. Lived experience of recovery is welcome. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, and applicants may choose to self-identify.
