About Red Road Recovery

Culture. Community. Recovery. Red Road Recovery is an Indigenous-centred, land-based addiction recovery organization in British Columbia. People who come to us remember the ceremony and the healing they found here. We work in close partnership with First Nations, including the Tŝilhqot’in National Government, and we hold CARF accreditation. Our people are the heart of the work, and many of them bring their own lived experience of recovery.

About the location

The Solar Site farm in the Williams Lake and Chilcotin region will offer pre-treatment and primary treatment, working in conjunction with a nearby post-treatment centre. This role is based there. The farm is a place to heal on the land. It has small homes for clients and for our team, a kitchen and dining hall, and shared spaces where everyone gathers each day. We plan to open in early December 2026 and to grow to up to 25 clients.

The role

As Operations Manager, you look after the site and lead the operations crew. You make sure the buildings, homes, meals, laundry, transport and upkeep all work well, so the team can focus on clients. You will be one of the first people hired, and you will help get the farm ready to open.

What you’ll do

Getting the site ready

· Walk through the site with our partners at the Tŝilhqot’in National Government when it is handed over to us, using a checklist, and keep a written list of anything still to finish.

· Set up all the spaces before opening, including the team’s office homes, the client homes, the kitchen and the laundry.

· Plan a backup when something is not ready, for example sending laundry off site for a short time.

· Lead the on-site orientation and safety walk for the whole team before opening.

Building and leading the crew

· Hire the operations crew: a cook, a kitchen prep worker, a cleaner, a driver, a maintenance worker and 3 support workers.

· Make sure the criminal record check and other screening are done for each new hire, and help welcome new hires through onboarding.

· Lead the kitchen, housekeeping, laundry and maintenance teams, including training, scheduling and setting clear expectations.

· With the Executive Director, book cultural workshops, healers, Elders and Knowledge Keepers, land-based healing, and other contracted supports.

Running the site every day

· Keep the site safe, clean, warm and welcoming for clients and staff.

· Look after the buildings, homes, vehicles, tools and equipment, working with local trades and contractors on repairs and upkeep.

· Look after the cultural and ceremony spaces on site, and make sure staff and clients learn and follow ceremony protocols.

· Arrange safe travel for clients to and from appointments, activities and outings.

· Order and keep track of supplies for the kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance and activities.

· Help with intake for new clients, in a private space, working with the counselling team.

· Lead the site when the Executive Director is away, and be a calm point person when concerns or conflicts come up.

· Get the site ready to grow to up to 25 clients, including sleeping space and group spaces.

What you bring

· Experience running facilities, sites or operations, and leading a hands-on crew.

· Experience in a similar role in a recovery residence or healthcare setting is preferred.

· A practical, organized way of working: checklists, follow-through and good records.

· Strong communication, problem-solving and leadership skills, and comfort working with contractors, suppliers and partners.

· A calm approach when plans change.

· Respect for First Nations culture and protocol, and a real commitment to recovery and to the wellbeing of clients and staff.

Requirements

· A high school diploma or equivalent.

· Understanding and knowledge of addiction and recovery is required.

· A valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

· A criminal record check.

· At least 20 hours of training in one or more of these subjects: counselling; crisis intervention and conflict resolution; psychosocial intervention for substance use disorders; trauma-informed practice. Assets, not requirements: experience in mental health, residential care or food service, and knowledge of, or lived experience in, Tŝilhqot’in and Interior First Nations communities and cultures, and of the Williams Lake and Chilcotin region. Lived experience of recovery is welcome. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, and applicants may choose to self-identify.
