About the Project:

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview:

TRP has a current opening for a Project Legal Counsel to join our dedicated project legal team. In this role, you will support the delivery of the Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) – Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package. You will safeguard the general contractor's commercial interests, manage complex interface risks, and ensure contractual compliance across this multi-billion dollar transit expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Administration

- Familiarization and advice on prime project agreements signed with Metrolinx to evaluate risk exposure.
- Being a point of contact for various subgroups on legal matters affecting the project.
- Providing advice regarding the Ontario Construction Act.




- Conducting legal research, drafting memoranda, drafting internal briefings and reports.
- Manage interface risks arising from interactions with separate civil, tunneling, and utility contractors.
- Draft specialized subcontracts and procurement orders that mirror the prime contract's liabilities.
- Advising the contract and subcontract management team in respect of the administration of contracts being performed (including qualified services agreements, supply agreements and construction subcontracts)

Claims & Dispute Management

- Drafting and reviewing correspondence between the project team and project owner in collaboration with the commercial, construction and contract management teams
- Supporting the management of subcontractor claims, litigation and other dispute resolution proceedings
- Assess change orders and delay claims submitted by subcontractors.
- Prepare delay notifications and variation requests to submit directly to Metrolinx.
