Companion Wanted for a Lovely Retired Firefighter ❤ Newmarket, ON | Starting at $35/hour | Flexible schedule We're looking for a kind, reliable companion for our dad, who lives at home with his wife in Newmarket, just off Main Street. He has Parkinson's and would enjoy some extra company and support with safety and mobility, while giving his wife time to rest, recharge, or enjoy a yoga class. We're flexible and happy to find an arrangement that suits your interests, comfort level, and availability. You can choose the type of support that feels right for you. What might this look like? Companionship at home: Chatting, watching a movie, enjoying a cup of tea, or simply keeping Dad company. If he naps, you're welcome to relax, read, or do your own thing while staying nearby. Getting outdoors: Enjoying fresh air and nature on nearby flat, accessible trails, with Dad using his wheelchair. The trails are right beside the residence, so no vehicle is needed. Coffee dates and local outings: Visiting a nearby coffee shop or enjoying a change of scenery. You can use your own vehicle or Uber, with transportation costs covered by our family. Caregiving Expectations This is a fairly hands-off role focused on companionship, keeping Dad company, and helping him enjoy outings safely. Personal care, such as bathing, showering, or toileting, is not required. You'd be there to provide company, keep an eye on his safety, and offer assistance as needed during outings. Any specific support needs will be discussed beforehand so everyone feels comfortable with the arrangement.



A little about Dad Dad is a retired firefighter who spent his career helping others. He's sweet, kind, and funny, and enjoys nature, movies, and chatting about what's happening in the world. We're hoping to find someone who enjoys genuine connection and spending time with him. Hours & Pay Starting at $30-35/hour, with higher compensation possible depending on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities. Flexible scheduling, with shifts of around three hours or longer. Longer shifts are very welcome Open to different days and times to find a schedule that works for everyone. No vehicle needed for companionship at home or nearby accessible trails. Experience in caregiving, recreation, rehabilitation, or personal support is welcome. We're looking for someone caring, patient, attentive, and dependable. Those with specialized qualifications in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, or related healthcare fields are welcome to discuss a higher rate that reflects their expertise.
