About the Role

Our client, a key player in the Energy sector, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Exploration Geophysicist to join their team in Kimberley, Northern Cape . This role is central to the discovery of new hydrocarbon resources through the advanced processing and interpretation of seismic and other geophysical data. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading geophysical evaluations, identifying prospective plays, and contributing to the company's exploration strategy. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to analyze complex subsurface data, assess risks, and provide critical insights for decision-making. We are seeking an individual with a strong background in seismic interpretation, data processing, and attribute analysis, who can collaborate effectively with geologists and reservoir engineers. Key Responsibilities

- Lead the seismic data processing and interpretation for exploration projects.
- Identify and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects using seismic attributes, inversions, and other geophysical methods.
- Integrate geophysical data with geological and petrophysical information to build robust subsurface models.
- Perform quantitative seismic interpretation and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with exploration geologists and reservoir engineers to define drilling targets.




- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and geophysical evaluations.
- Contribute to the development of exploration strategies and play fairway analysis.
- Mentor junior geophysicists and foster best practices in geophysical interpretation.
- Stay updated with current geophysical technologies and methodologies.
- Ensure data quality and compliance with company standards.

Requirements

- A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Physics, or a related earth science discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in exploration geophysics, with a focus on seismic interpretation.
- Expertise in 2D/3D seismic data processing and interpretation.
- Proficiency with industry-standard geophysical software (e.g., Petrel, OpendTect, Landmark).
- Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing workflows, and theory.
- Experience with seismic attribute analysis, AVO analysis, and inversion techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in the Southern African region is desirable.
