About the Role

Our client, a cutting-edge company focused on innovative chemical synthesis, is seeking a talented Remote Chemical Process Development Scientist for a contract position. This role is entirely remote, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for the research, development, and optimization of novel chemical processes, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in synthetic chemistry, process chemistry, and analytical techniques, with a proven ability to translate laboratory findings into robust manufacturing protocols. You will collaborate virtually with our R&D; and engineering teams to drive product development forward. This position is essential for advancing our client's pipeline of new chemical products.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes.
- Investigate and troubleshoot challenging chemical reactions and processes.
- Develop scalable and cost-effective manufacturing processes for new chemical entities.
- Utilize analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, NMR, MS) for reaction monitoring and product characterization.
- Prepare comprehensive reports documenting experimental results, process development, and safety assessments.
- Collaborate with remote teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and scale-up planning.
- Identify and evaluate recent technologies and methodologies to enhance process efficiency and sustainability.
- Ensure all research and development activities comply with safety and environmental standards.




- Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio through detailed documentation and invention disclosures.
- Work effectively with minimal supervision in a remote setting.

Requirements

- Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry, synthetic route development, and scale-up.
- Proven experience in developing robust and scalable chemical processes.
- Expertise in organic synthesis and reaction mechanism understanding.
- Proficiency with a wide range of analytical instrumentation and techniques.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a meticulous approach to experimental work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
- Experience with statistical design of experiments (DoE) is a plus.
- Familiarity with process safety principles relevant to chemical synthesis.
