About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Remote Sensing Scientist to join their fully remote team, specializing in agricultural monitoring and analysis. This role is pivotal in leveraging satellite and aerial imagery to provide insights into crop health, yield prediction, land use, and environmental changes impacting agriculture. You will work with vast geospatial datasets, develop analytical models, and collaborate with agronomists and stakeholders to support sustainable agricultural practices and inform policy decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geospatial science, image processing, and a passion for applying these skills to the agricultural domain.
Key Responsibilities
Acquire, process, and analyze satellite and aerial imagery (e.g., Sentinel, Landsat, Planet) for agricultural applications. Develop and implement algorithms for crop classification, vegetation health assessment (NDVI, EVI), yield estimation, and land cover mapping. Integrate remote sensing data with other geospatial datasets (e.g., soil maps, weather data) for comprehensive analysis. Develop and maintain workflows for automated image analysis and reporting. Collaborate with agronomy and data science teams to validate remote sensing findings and integrate them into decision‑support tools. Stay current with the latest advancements in remote sensing technologies, sensors, and analytical techniques. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations of geospatial analysis results.
Contribute to research proposals and publications related to remote sensing in agriculture.
Requirements
Ph.
D. or Master's degree in Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science, Agronomy, or a related field with a solid geospatial focus. Minimum of 6 years of experience in remote sensing data processing and analysis, with a significant portion focused on agricultural applications. Proficiency in remote sensing software and platforms (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS). Strong programming skills in Python or R for geospatial analysis and scripting. Experience with various satellite and aerial sensor data types and their applications. Solid understanding of vegetation indices, spectral analysis, and image classification techniques. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration in a remote environment.
Benefits
This fully remote position offers a highly competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, a generous retirement savings plan, and flexible paid time off. Enjoy the autonomy and flexibility of working from home while contributing to cutting‑edge agricultural technology. Our client is committed to professional development, offering opportunities for training, conference attendance, and career advancement. Join a team of forward‑thinking scientists dedicated to transforming agriculture through advanced geospatial insights.
