Lead community social development for the City of Courtenay, applying social planning and policy expertise to community well-being initiatives.

The full time Community Development Coordinator completes and implements the City’s Community Social Development Framework. This position establishes priorities and actions where municipal efforts can have the greatest impact. Work includes research, policy development, planning, and initiatives grounded in equity, reconciliation, inclusion, and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead Community Social Development Framework implementation
- Establish community well-being priorities and actions
- Coordinate research, policy development, and planning
- Develop initiatives grounded in social determinants of health




- Build relationships with community organizations and partners

Requirements:

- Degree in social work, social services, or related discipline
- Three to five years’ community social development experience
- Experience developing policies, practices, and programs
- Experience sourcing, writing, and administering grants
- Current vulnerable sector clearance and First Aid certification
