About the Role

Our client, an innovative biotechnology startup focused on developing novel enzyme-based therapeutics, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Biochemist with specialized expertise in enzyme kinetics. This critical role will involve the in-depth characterization of enzyme activity, the development of high-throughput assays, and the optimization of enzyme inhibitors. You will be instrumental in guiding the discovery and development of new drug candidates by providing rigorous biochemical data and insights. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of enzyme mechanisms, kinetics, and assay development. Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and validate robust biochemical assays to measure enzyme activity and inhibition.
- Conduct detailed kinetic analyses of enzymes, including determination of Km, Vmax, Ki, and IC50 values.
- Characterize the mechanism of action of enzyme inhibitors and modulators.
- Optimize assay conditions for high-throughput screening (HTS) applications.
- Investigate enzyme stability, cofactor requirements, and substrate specificity.
- Analyze and interpret complex biochemical data, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility.
- Collaborate with molecular biologists and medicinal chemists to advance drug discovery projects.
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate laboratory records.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, publications, and patent applications.




- Stay current with the latest advancements in biochemistry, enzyme kinetics, and assay development technologies.

Requirements

- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field with a strong emphasis on enzymology.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in biochemistry, with a focus on enzyme kinetics and assay development.
- Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of biochemical assay formats (e.g., fluorescence, luminescence, absorbance, SPR).
- Proficiency in kinetic data analysis using specialized software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Origin).
- Strong understanding of enzyme mechanisms, protein-ligand interactions, and drug discovery principles.
- Experience with inhibitor profiling and characterization is essential.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with HTS or miniaturized assay formats is a plus.
