Lead archival services at UBC Library through appraisal, arrangement, description, and preservation of permanently valuable university records in all formats.

The Archivist, University Archives develops and delivers services for the University of British Columbia. This full-time confirmation-track faculty appointment supports archival policies, acquisitions, access, and long-term preservation. The position collaborates with Records Management, Rare Books and Special Collections, and UBC Okanagan Special Collections and Archives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Identify, acquire, appraise, arrange, and describe archival materials
- Establish transfer procedures and preservation workflows with Records Management
- Maintain standards-based finding aids and supervise physical collections storage
- Coordinate reference, instruction,



outreach, and collections development activities
- Negotiate private-record acquisitions and develop archival policies

Requirements:

- Masters-level degree specializing in archival science
- Experience processing, arranging, and describing archival materials
- Experience with textual, audiovisual, digitized, and born-digital materials
- Knowledge of RAD and relevant archival management systems
- Robust written and oral communication skills
