About the Role

Our client, a prominent construction firm operating in Kimberley , Northern Cape, seeks a highly organized and experienced Construction Planner. This role is vital for developing and managing detailed construction schedules, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and meet critical timelines. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to create realistic, achievable plans, identify potential roadblocks, and optimize resource allocation. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of construction processes and advanced skills in scheduling software. Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive construction project schedules. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site staff to define project scope, activities, and durations. Identify critical path activities and potential scheduling conflicts. Perform resource leveling and allocation to ensure efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials. Develop baseline schedules and monitor progress against planned milestones. Analyze project delays and develop recovery plans as necessary.

Prepare regular progress reports and schedule updates for project stakeholders. Utilize scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to create and manage detailed plans. Contribute to bid and proposal efforts by developing preliminary schedules. Ensure compliance with contract requirements related to scheduling and time management.



Assist in the coordination of trades and subcontractors to align with the project schedule. Conduct schedule review meetings with project teams.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 7 years of experience in construction planning and scheduling. Proven expertise in using scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and/or MS Project. In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and site operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Experience in contract administration related to time extensions and claims is a plus. Familiarity with projects in the Kimberley or broader Northern Cape region is advantageous. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
