Role Description This is a full time remote role for a Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL & SQL Server), focused on the stability, performance, and security of our clients' database environments. Day to day, you will administer and tune PostgreSQL and SQL Server instances, monitor system health, and troubleshoot performance and availability issues. You will manage backup and recovery strategies, configure replication and high availability, and run preventive maintenance such as restore testing, security reviews, and DR drills. You will respond to incidents within SLA, lead root-cause analysis, and deliver Database Health Checks. Working directly with client IT, development, and infrastructure teams, you will optimize queries, support releases, contribute to database design decisions, and ensure environments follow best practices and compliance requirements. Documentation, automation of routine tasks, proactive capacity planning,



and clear communication with clients are core to this position. Qualifications
• Senior-level production experience administering PostgreSQL and SQL Server
• Strong troubleshooting skills across performance, availability, and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with replication and high availability (e.g., PostgreSQL streaming/logical replication and Patroni; SQL Server Always On Availability Groups), including failover planning
• Solid database design

skills:
schema modeling, indexing strategies, and data structure optimization
• Experience with backup and recovery, security configuration, and access control
• Strong SQL skills in T-SQL and PL/pgSQL
• Proficiency with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
• Experience with cloud or hybrid environments, including managed database services in Azure or AWS
• An active Expert or Professional-level Microsoft or AWS certification
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to clients in business terms; [English / French / bilingual]
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

• Experience in a senior or lead DBA role supporting mission-critical production systems; consulting or managed-services experience is an asset
