Build Your Career With Wynker Brothers

Wynker Brothers Exteriors & Manufacturing Ltd. is a growing roofing, architectural metal and exterior building systems company based in Chilliwack, BC.

We specialize in architectural metal roofing, cladding, flashings and related building-envelope systems. We serve customers through both our installation division and our manufacturing and supply operations.

We are looking for a motivated, technically minded Construction Estimator who takes pride in producing accurate work, solving problems and delivering excellent customer service.

This is more than a traditional estimating position. We want someone who is interested in taking ownership of our estimating process, developing a thorough understanding of our architectural metal systems and helping build a stronger, more efficient department.

For the right individual, this position offers a long-term opportunity to grow into Head Estimator, with responsibility for leading and developing our estimating function.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Construction Estimating & Project Budgets

- Review construction drawings, specifications and architectural details.
- Complete accurate material takeoffs and labour estimates.
- Develop comprehensive project budgets and customer proposals.
- Identify missing information, clarify project requirements and prepare RFIs.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and customers to obtain pricing and technical information.
- Manage multiple estimating opportunities, priorities and tender deadlines.
- Conduct site inspections and field measurements when required.
- Prepare clear project handoffs for our production team.
- Provide estimating support during construction, including change-order pricing and scope clarifications.

Technical Systems Support & Shop Drawings

- Develop a thorough understanding of our architectural metal roofing and cladding systems.
- Assist customers and contractors with technical product and installation questions.
- Understand installation sequences, flashing details, fastening methods, rainscreen assemblies and waterproofing principles.
- Prepare project-specific shop drawings, technical details and installation illustrations.
- Develop clear, step-by-step installation guides for contractors purchasing our products.
- Work with experienced installers, project managers and suppliers to develop practical technical solutions.
- Help build and maintain a library of standard details, technical drawings and installation resources.

You will not be expected to physically install these systems. However, you will be expected to progressively develop a strong understanding of how they are installed and how to communicate those methods clearly.

Job Costing & Continuous Improvement

- Review completed projects and reconcile actual costs against original estimates.
- Investigate differences in labour, materials and other project expenses.

- Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy and profitability.
- Help develop and maintain estimating templates, pricing information and standardized procedures.
- Contribute to improving our estimating systems and workflows.

Commercial Client Development

- Help identify and develop relationships with general contractors, builders and commercial clients.
- Establish connections with estimating departments and prospective customers.
- Help expand our presence on commercial tender invitation lists.
- Support the development of long-term customer relationships through responsive communication and reliable service.
