Experienced Caregiver / Home Support Worker — Morinville
Temporary Weekday Coverage | Potential Ongoing Relief Opportunities
Faith & Serenity Care Group is a locally owned, faith-based home care agency providing compassionate, non-clinical support that helps adults remain safe and comfortable in their own homes.
Our Christian values of compassion, dignity, service and integrity guide our work. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share our commitment to respectful, person-centred care.
We are recruiting an experienced caregiver for temporary weekday coverage with an established client in Morinville, Alberta. Applicants must have practical experience providing personal care and supporting adults with significant mobility limitations.
Assignment and schedule
This assignment involves hands-on assistance with personal care, mobility and daily living routines in a private home.
- Weekday daytime visits, generally Monday to Friday.
- The client’s current service allocation is approximately 120 hours per month, shared among assigned caregivers as needed.
- Individual visits and weekly hours vary with the confirmed care schedule.
- Applicants must provide their specific daytime availability and earliest start date.
This is a temporary coverage opportunity. The assignment’s duration is currently uncertain. Confirmed shifts and employment terms will be discussed before acceptance. Permanent placement and a fixed number of ongoing weekly hours are not guaranteed.
Additional relief assignments may become available based on client needs, qualifications and caregiver availability.
Responsibilities
Follow the individualized care plan and agency procedures to provide:
- Personal hygiene, dressing, toileting and continence support.
- Mobility assistance, including standing and pivot transfers, wheelchair transfers and walker support, where specified in the care plan.
- Assistance with established mobility routines or exercises prescribed by the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Meal preparation and meal support.
- Safety supervision, fall prevention and companionship.
- Light housekeeping related to the client’s immediate care needs.
- Accurate visit documentation and arrival/departure records.
- Prompt reporting of changes, incidents and concerns.
Transfer methods and equipment will be reviewed during orientation. Caregivers must follow the assessed assistance requirements and seek guidance when a task cannot be completed safely.
This role does not include transporting the client or independently providing clinical or rehabilitation treatment.
Required experience and qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Has demonstrated hands-on caregiving experience beyond companionship alone.
- Is confident providing respectful personal care, including toileting and hygiene assistance.
- Has experience supporting adults with significant mobility limitations.
- Can safely perform the essential duties using the prescribed equipment and assistance, with reasonable accommodation where required.
- Can work independently while following a care plan and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Has reliable transportation to arrive at the Morinville assignment throughout the year.
- Can consistently attend accepted shifts and communicate promptly when an unexpected issue affects attendance.
- Can communicate clearly and complete accurate care documentation.
- Is legally entitled to work in Canada.
Experience supporting adults following a stroke is an asset.
Employment is subject to satisfactory reference checks, required background screening and verification of applicable qualifications. Paid orientation and a practical assessment of relevant care skills will take place before independent assignment.
Professional expectations
Client safety and continuity of care are essential. Caregivers must:
- Arrive on time and remain for the scheduled visit unless management approves a change.
- Remain available to respond to the client’s care needs.
- Follow agency rules on personal phone use, smoking and breaks.
- Never leave the client without the supervision or support required by the care plan.
- Report an inability to attend as soon as reasonably possible through the agency’s reporting process.
- Notify management promptly if a task or change in the client’s condition creates a safety concern.
We recognize that illness and emergencies occur. Our expectation is timely communication whenever reasonably possible so management can arrange appropriate coverage.
