PRRO Referral Officer (1 year term - Maternity Leave Coverage)

Stó:lō Service Agency (SSA) requires the services of a Referral Officer for the People of the River Referrals Office (PRRO) to work within the Stó:lō Research and Resource Management Centre (SRRMC). Our team of PRRO Referral Officers serve as the critical link between PRRO and the Stó:lō communities of the S’ólh Téméxw Stewardship Alliance (STSA). In this role, the PRRO Referral Officer will administer, and process land-use and environmental referrals submitted by federal, provincial, municipal, and industry stakeholders. Managing a specific portfolio of STSA member communities, the PRRO Referral Officer will analyze incoming files, write reports, and coordinate site visits or fieldwork to gather necessary data. The Referral Officer will work closely with community representatives to facilitate decisions on these proposals, managing the entire caseload through the Stolo Connect communication and tracking platform.

The position reports to the PRRO manager and the successful candidate will be based out of the Chilliwack office.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

- Must have a post-secondary education in Land and Resource Management or a combination of related training and experience.
- Proficient with computers: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and various video conferencing platforms.
- Must demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Rights & Title issues in relation to consultation and engagement.
- Must have strong writing and reporting skills, with the ability to clearly communicate information to groups of varying cultural, professional, and educational backgrounds.
- Knowledge and appreciation of working in service of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
- Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community staff, members,



and representatives of other organizations.
- Ability to demonstrate task prioritization and time management skills.
- Must adhere to the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff and SSA.
- Must have the ability to conduct off-site field visits in a variety of outdoor environments as needed.
- Must have a current valid class 5 Driver’s License.
- Familiarity with GIS, databases, graphic design software, website development and maintenance, and/or social media would be an asset.

Successful candidates will be required to provide the following if screened in for an interview:

SALARY RANGE: $25.00-$32.00 based on qualifications/experience.

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time 1 – year term (Maternity Leave Coverage) position with benefits, subject to 3-month probationary period and planned performance evaluations.
