Job Responsibility:

Greenwood Court is designed as a 'Community of Care' where seniors are able to age in place. As the needs of our seniors change, they have access to additional services and supports without having to leave familiar surroundings or newly developed friendships. Reporting to the Executive Director, The Director of Care is accountable for providing high quality care to residents, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff, and their families respectively.

The Director of Care is a key member of the leadership team supports the Executive Director in providing leadership in the residence to ensure that resident's goals and objectives are achieved.

Note: There may be the opportunity for this role to be full-time (37.5 hours) or Part time (25-30 hours)per week.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of the nursing department initiatives and functions
- Leads in the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care
- Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation at the resident and unit program level
- Maintains an active presence in mentoring staff while overseeing the provision of quality resident care
- Supports the human, financial and physical resources for the various departments
- Accountable for recruitment of team members and aid in their professional development by fostering an environment focused on knowledge sharing and skill building




- Collaborate in the budgeting process and adheres to department e the facility within the budget while overseeing the accounting operations

A successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

- Must be a Registered Nurse, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current, valid membership or are eligible for membership with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- 1+ years of experience working as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector is required
- At least 3 years of working experience: -In a managerial or supervisory capacity in the health or social services sector; or -In another managerial or supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
- Superb organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
- Customer-focused attitude, with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients
- Ability to generate creative solutions and new approaches to daily challenges
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices and Employment Standards Act principles and legislation
- Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and applicable legislation
- Knowledge of Fixing long term care homes act and regulations
- Experience with ministry inspection protocols, risk and gap assessments and implementation of change and quality improvement initiatives
