Our client, a rapidly expanding logistics and distribution company, is seeking a motivated Junior Industrial Engineer to join their dynamic team in Kimberley, Northern Cape . You will support senior engineers in analyzing logistics processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance throughput and reduce costs. This hybrid position allows for on-site collaboration at our Kimberley facility, along with remote flexibility for data analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will possess robust analytical skills, a foundational understanding of industrial engineering principles, and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in analyzing supply chain and logistics operations.
- Collect and organize data related to process performance, inventory levels, and transportation efficiency.
- Support the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
- Help create process maps and documentation for warehouse and distribution workflows.
- Conduct basic data analysis to identify trends and areas for optimization.
- Collaborate with operational teams to understand daily challenges and gather information.
- Assist in the testing and validation of new operational procedures or system changes.
- Learn and apply Lean principles and other continuous improvement tools.
- Prepare reports and presentations on findings and recommendations under supervision.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards within the facility.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience in industrial engineering, operations, or supply chain.
- Basic understanding of industrial engineering concepts, including process analysis and optimization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills.
- Familiarity with process mapping tools (e.g., Visio) is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
