Environmental Engineering – AI Data TrainerAbout The RoleWe're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need environmental engineers who know their stuff. Your expertise in water treatment, air quality, remediation, and environmental compliance will directly shape how the next generation of AI systems reasons through complex, real-world engineering problems. This is a unique opportunity to apply your graduate-level knowledge in a flexible, remote freelance role — while working at the frontier of AI development.Organization: AlignerrType: Hourly ContractLocation: RemoteCommitment: 10–40 hours/weekWhat You'll DoDesign Advanced Engineering Problems — Create complex, domain-specific challenges across contaminant transport, wastewater process design, hydrology, air quality modeling, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical responses — including chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and pollutant dispersion simulations — that serve as benchmark answers for AI trainingAudit AI-Generated Outputs — Evaluate AI-produced remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and engineering calculations for technical accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance (EPA, ISO 14001, and others)Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify flaws in model logic — such as incorrect stoichiometry in biological treatment processes or missed secondary environmental impacts — and provide structured,

actionable feedback to improve AI "thinking"Work Independently — Complete assignments asynchronously on your own schedule with no micromanagementWho You AreCurrently pursuing or have completed a Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (with an environmental focus), or a closely related fieldStrong foundational knowledge in one or more of: aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediationAble to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly and precisely in written formHigh attention to detail — especially around unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory logicSelf-motivated and comfortable working independently on technical tasksNo prior AI experience requiredNice to HaveExperience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or technical review workflowsFamiliarity with environmental modeling software (e.G., AERMOD, SWMM, EPA tools)Background in EHS compliance, environmental impact assessment, or sustainability consultingWhy Join UsWork on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs and AI teamsFully remote and adaptable — work when and where you chooseFreelance autonomy: set your own pace, own your scheduleGain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models (LLMs) are built and trainedCollaborate with a global community of domain experts contributing to meaningful AI workPotential for ongoing work and contract extension
