Substation equipment operations and maintenance await a Summer Student in Calgary. Apply electrical technology skills with AltaLink’s Transmission Field Operations team.

This four-month student term starts in May 2027 and supports AltaLink transmission substations in Alberta. Reporting to the Manager, Substations South, you will work with a multidisciplinary team in Rocky View County. The successful candidate must reside in the Calgary area while supporting equipment maintenance, emergency response, and upgrade activities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate, inspect, and maintain 4160V to 500KV substation equipment
- Provide equipment status information to planners and control center staff
- Respond to station facility troubles and system emergencies
- Support capital upgrades, replacements, and new SVC and PST technologies




- Develop safe work plans and implement substation work practices

Requirements:

- Return to studies in a related recognized technologist diploma program
- Electrical Engineering Technology preferred, with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and adverse-weather readiness
- Computer, spreadsheet, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work safely at heights, independently, and within teams
