Estimator – Commercial & Residential Construction

Location: Ottawa Job Type: Full-time | In-Office Salary: $55,000–$90,000 per year, negotiable based on experience Benefits: Extended health care, dental care, and vision care About the Company A leading construction and renovation company serving the Ottawa-to-Kingston corridor, specializing in both commercial and residential projects.

The company is seeking an experienced Estimator to manage estimates from takeoff through final bid submission.

Role Summary The Experienced Estimator will independently prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial and residential construction projects.

This in-office position is ideal for someone with a proven estimating track record, strong blueprint and specification reading skills, advanced Excel knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for residential and commercial projects.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.

Obtain and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes and finalize bid pricing.

Prepare and manage estimates using Excel and Microsoft Office.

Use estimating software such as Bluebeam or Heavy

Bid.

Review historical project costs to improve estimate accuracy and profit margins.





Collaborate with project managers, purchasing teams, clients, and subcontractors.

Manage multiple bids and meet tender deadlines.

Support and mentor junior estimators.

Qualifications Minimum 3 years of construction estimating and pricing experience.

Proven ability to independently prepare complete project estimates.

Strong blueprint and specification interpretation skills.

Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Hands-on experience with Bluebeam and/or Heavy

Bid.

AutoCAD experience is a strong asset.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work in-office and collaborate effectively with a team.
