Island Health seeks a physician to strengthen assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for clients with substance use needs. Services include symptom management, opioid agonist therapy initiation, and post-discharge liaison. The role includes multidisciplinary collaboration and medical education.
Key Responsibilities: Assess and diagnose substance use needs in acute care
Manage difficult withdrawal symptoms and other treatment needs
Initiate opioid agonist therapy during hospitalization
Coordinate discharge plans with community treatment resources




Teach medical students and residents through Island Medical Program
Requirements: Full licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC
Clinical faculty appointment at UBC required
Certification with International Society of Addiction Medicine recommended
CCFP AM-CAC, FRCPC AM-AFC, or Addiction Medicine Fellowship recommended
Availability for 40 hours across Monday to Sunday
Use addiction medicine, acute care consultation, and multidisciplinary collaboration to support Island Health clients in Campbell River.
