Lead quarterly accounting close and internal controls at Canada Life, supporting Canadian finance operations from Toronto, London, or Winnipeg. This permanent full-time leadership role spans complex financial services accounting.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Canada Controller, Financial Planning & Accounting, the Assistant Vice-President leads accounting across Workplace Benefits & Retirement, Individual Insurance, and Wealth. You will strengthen control culture, improve processes, and develop talent across a broader team of approximately 65 FTE. The position requires collaboration with Canadian and Lifeco Finance teams and operationalizing accounting impacts from transactions and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end quarterly accounting close processes
Ensure accounting accuracy, timeliness, and completeness




Maintain a strong culture of internal controls
Coach four direct reports and broader team members
Drive process efficiency and control enhancement initiatives
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; CPA preferred
10–15 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial services accounting
Reliability Status Security Clearance required before access
Ability to build cooperative finance partnerships
Bring accounting leadership, IFRS expertise, controls discipline, and talent development to Canada Life’s Canadian finance ecosystem.
