The long-term substitute will provide literature instruction to middle school students while maintaining continuity of learning, established classroom routines, and a positive and supportive classroom environment. The substitute will work closely with our middle school team and school administration throughout the assignment.Primary ResponsibilitiesDeliver middle school literature instruction using established curriculum, lesson plans, and learning objectivesGuide students in reading, comprehension, literary analysis, discussion, and response to literaturePrepare for and facilitate engaging, age appropriate lessons and learning activitiesMaintain established classroom expectations, routines, and proceduresAssess student learning and provide appropriate feedbackCommunicate with students, families, colleagues, and administration as neededCollaborate with the middle school teaching team to support student learning and schoolwide expectationsSupervise students and fulfill other typical teacher responsibilities during the school daySupport the Catholic mission, values, and community of St. Joseph Catholic SchoolQualificationsValid teaching certificate requiredExperience teaching middle school students preferredLiterature, English Language Arts, or humanities teaching experience strongly preferredStrong classroom management and communication skillsAbility to engage students in meaningful reading, discussion, and analysisAbility to build positive relationships with students and colleaguesCommitment to providing a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environmentWillingness to support the mission and values of Catholic educationCompensation and BenefitsCompensation: Starting at $180 per day starting.
