As Engineering Lead, you will guide a small team building BioRender’s core AI figure agent platform. You will shape architecture, planning, tool use, and self-correction for systems serving more than four million scientists. The work combines production-grade AI leadership with evaluation-driven improvements to output quality.
Key Responsibilities: Lead engineering for the core agent platform
Improve figure quality through evaluations and experimentation
Benchmark frontier LLMs and VLMs for scientific accuracy
Optimize model routing for quality, cost, speed, reliability
Establish monitoring,



alerting, and performance triage
Requirements: Experience leading engineers and setting technical direction
Experience shipping agent orchestration platforms to production
Hands-on experience with frontier models and VLMs
Solid judgment on training or fine-tuning models
Evaluation-first approach to output quality and failure modes
Guide BioRender’s AI platform with engineering leadership, model evaluation, orchestration, and reliable scientific figure generation.
