As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will craft high-quality software for Bitvavo customers and financial markets. You will tackle technical challenges, influence technology stacks and architecture, and participate in production incident rotations. The role requires trading product experience, strong JVM language proficiency, and familiarity with Kubernetes.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and colleagues
Craft high-quality software used by Bitvavo customers
Build solutions supporting peak performance across systems




Contribute to technology stack and architecture decisions
Resolve production incidents through operational rotations
Requirements: Eight or more years of software development experience
Experience with retail trading products
Expertise in event-driven microservices architecture
Solid proficiency in JVM languages, preferably Kotlin
Familiarity with Kubernetes and design patterns
Apply backend engineering expertise in Kotlin, Kafka, Kubernetes, and trading products to Bitvavo’s financial technology platform.
