Job Overview

We are seeking a patient, knowledgeable High School Tutor (Math and Physics) for an in-person, part-time role. You’ll help students strengthen their understanding of course material, build effective study habits, and gain confidence in their academic abilities. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, adapts instruction to different learning needs, and enjoys working with young people.

Duties

- Provide one-on-one tutoring in high school Math and Physics, adjusting explanations and practice activities to each student’s needs.
- Review class assignments, concepts, and assessments; identify areas for improvement and help students develop problem-solving strategies.
- Explain challenging material in an encouraging, accessible way and check for understanding throughout each session.
- Support students with study skills, organization, and preparation for quizzes, tests, and coursework.
- Track student progress and share relevant observations with families or appropriate school staff, as needed.
- Maintain a focused, respectful, and supportive learning environment during in-person sessions.




- Use appropriate digital tools and learning resources to support instruction and communicate about tutoring activities.

Skills

- Strong knowledge of high school math and physics concepts.
- Experience with tutoring, teaching, or explaining academic material to others.
- Experience working with children or adolescents; classroom experience is a plus.
- Patient, dependable, organized, and able to adapt teaching approaches to different learning styles.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to encourage students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Basic computer skills for using educational resources and digital learning tools.
- Familiarity with special education strategies or experience supporting students with diverse learning needs is a plus.
- Background in computer science is a plus.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
