Landscape Horticulturist / Supervisor
OG Gardens Inc. — North Vancouver
$32–$38 per hour | Full-time

Enjoy working with plants and want to build a long-term career in horticulture? OG Gardens is looking for an experienced landscaper ready to develop into a supervisor, or an established supervisor who wants to keep learning and growing.

We specialise in organic garden maintenance and softscape installations across the North Shore and Vancouver. Our work includes planting, pruning, lawn care, garden improvements, and seasonal maintenance, with a focus on healthy plants and good horticultural practices.

You’ll work alongside our team, build your skills, and take on responsibility as your knowledge and leadership develop. We value people who care about their work, treat others respectfully, and want to help the whole crew succeed.

What we offer

- $32–$38 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and responsibility.
- Extended health and dental perks, including prescription coverage and eligible services such as massage, physiotherapy, and counselling.
- $500 annual health spending account for supervisors, with benefits appropriate to your position.
- Life insurance and long-term disability coverage.
- $200 annual safety equipment allowance towards boots, rain gear, and required protective equipment.
- Company tools and equipment, with a work truck provided for assigned supervisory duties.
- Financial assistance and coaching for approved professional development, including Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist, landscape technician and management certifications, and other relevant training.
- Practical mentorship, ongoing learning, and opportunities to develop your plant knowledge, leadership, and planning skills.
- Room to grow within the company, with a defined three-level supervisor pay structure.

Health benefits begin after the three-month waiting period, subject to eligibility. Training support, allowances, and vehicle use follow company policies.

The work

You’ll take part in garden maintenance, pruning, planting, lawn care, soil preparation, mulching, and seasonal cleanups.

As a supervisor, or as you progress into that role, your responsibilities will include:

- Organising daily tasks and keeping the crew working safely and efficiently.
- Leading by example and helping team members improve their skills.
- Recognising plant-care needs and planning seasonal work.
- Checking the quality of completed work and leaving properties tidy.
- Communicating clearly with clients and management.
- Keeping accurate job notes, time records, and progress updates.
- Looking after tools, equipment, and company vehicles.

Who we’re looking for

- Strong character, integrity, and a good work ethic.
- Previous landscaping experience and practical plant-care knowledge.
- Reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn, accept feedback, and share knowledge.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- The ability to perform outdoor physical work safely in changing weather conditions.
- An interest in building a long-term future in horticulture.

Leadership, crew coordination, production management, irrigation experience, and relevant horticultural qualifications are valuable assets.

A full Class 5 driver’s licence with a good driving record and current occupational first aid certification are required for appointment to a supervisor position. Applicants developing towards supervision should be willing to meet these requirements.

Pay and progression

Starting pay reflects the role you’re ready to take on:

- Horticulturist developing towards supervision: starting at $32/hour.
- Entry-level Supervisor: $33.00–$34.99/hour.
- Intermediate Supervisor: $35.00–$36.49/hour.
- Senior-level Supervisor: $36.50–$38.00/hour.

Supervisor placement and progression are based on demonstrated skills, leadership, responsibility, and the qualifications required for each level.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, normally 40 hours per week. Optional weekend work is available.

Interested?

Send your résumé and a short introduction to [email protected]. Tell us about your experience, any training you’ve completed, and where you’d like to grow in the industry.

Our interview process

We start with a phone interview, followed by a paid, one-day working interview in the field for candidates moving forward. This gives you a chance to meet the crew, experience the work, and see whether we’re a good fit for each other.
