This hands-on role focuses on equipment reliability, process stability, new product introduction, troubleshooting, and improvements to quality, yield, cost, and capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Equipment Support
- Support, program, optimize, and maintain SMT and through-hole manufacturing equipment, including placement, reflow, selective soldering, wave soldering, board wash, and conformal coating systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues involving printing, fluxing, soldering, cleaning, and coating.
- Use root-cause analysis to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform and document preventive maintenance, calibration, and process capability checks on PCBA manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate repairs with internal teams and external vendors.
Documentation
- Create and maintain clear work instructions, setup documents, and process flows.
- Support NPI through process definition, validation, and first-article builds.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Resolve PCBA quality issues using systematic troubleshooting and process data.
- Improve yield, cost, capacity, and efficiency through practical process changes and new technologies.
- Support DFM reviews, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Technical diploma or degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- At least five years of hands-on PCBA manufacturing experience.
- Experience with SMT placement, stencil printing, selective or wave soldering, and conformal coating equipment. Familiarity with systems such as ASM, Mycronic, EKRA, DEK, Ersa,
or PVA is an asset.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of PCBA processes, IPC-A-610, ESD, and MSD requirements.
- Understanding of process controls, critical parameters, and common defect mechanisms.

Application question(s):
- Do you have hands-on experience PCBA manufacturing processes in a production environment? If yes, briefly list the processes and equipment you have worked with (e.g., SMT placement, selective soldering, wave soldering, cleaning, conformal coating).
- Have you independently diagnoses and resolved process-related defects on PCBAs? If yes, briefly describe the type of issue and how you identified the root cause.
- Do you have experience supporting or programming conformal coating processes? If yes, briefly describe the coating systems, masking methods, or materials you have worked with.
- Have you supported current product introductions (NPI) in a contract manufacturing environment? If yes, briefly describe your role in process setup, validation, or first-article builds.
- Are you comfortable working independently while managing multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? If yes, briefly explain how you prioritize competing issues while maintaining quality and throughout.
