Job Title: Construction Safety Labourer

Job Description

Join a reputable General Contractor specializing in commercial construction as an experienced Labourer.

This role offers a chance to work on a commercial project and contribute significantly to maintaining a safe, productive, and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities

+ Assist skilled tradespeople and site supervisors with daily construction activities.
+ Load, unload, and move construction materials around the site.
+ Perform site cleanup and housekeeping to maintain a safe work environment.
+ Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
+ Set up and dismantle temporary barriers, fencing, and site protection.
+ Assist with excavation, concrete work, formwork, and general site preparation.
+ Follow all company safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations.
+ Support site logistics and material deliveries.
+ Conduct daily site inspections and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
+ Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements, and company safety policies.
+ Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection reports, incident reports, and safety records.
+ Conduct regular audits of equipment, tools, fall protection systems, and work areas.
+ Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and positive reinforcement.
+ Monitor compliance with PPE requirements, site housekeeping standards, and secure work practices.

Essential Skills

+ 2+ years of experience in commercial construction.
+ OFA2 certification.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Positive attitude and team player.
+ Willingness to perform physical labour to support site cleanup and assist trades.
+ Access to a vehicle to travel to remote site.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in carpentry, formwork, and skilled labour.
+ Knowledge of construction and framing techniques.

Work Environment

The schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:15 PM,



approximately 40 hours per week.

There is a coffee break at 10:15 AM and lunch from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.

Required PPE includes a hard hat, high visibility vest, and steel-toed boots.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abbotsford, BC.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
