The Opportunity

At ETI, we're looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant who can strengthen our accounting function, improve financial accuracy, recover outstanding cash, and build more efficient processes using modern technology and AI.

You'll work directly with the CEO and collaborate with teams across Operations, Sales, and Purchasing. This is an opportunity to take ownership, make decisions, and help build an accounting function that supports the next stage of our company's growth.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by taking ownership of account reconciliations, including resolving historical backlogs, addressing discrepancies, and driving cash recovery. Through this hands-on experience, the successful candidate will further strengthen their accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills while improving financial accuracy, streamlining processes, and contributing to long-term operational efficiency and growth.

What You'll Accomplish:

1. Strengthen accounting accuracy and recover cash

- Resolve outstanding bank, credit card, customer, vendor, inventory, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Investigate historical discrepancies, outstanding claims, short payments, and collection issues.
- Improve supporting documentation, controls, and the accuracy of financial records.

2. Deliver reliable financial reporting

- Own full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, cash flow reporting, and management reports.
- Identify variances, investigate root causes, and communicate actionable findings.

3. Improve processes through AI and automation

- Identify repetitive work and implement practical improvements using AI, automation, and accounting systems.
- Improve reporting and workflows in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power BI.
- Build documented, repeatable processes that reduce errors and improve efficiency.

4. Help build a stronger accounting team

- Work closely with and support junior accounting team members.
- Improve procedures, accountability, and internal controls.




- Partner with leadership to resolve issues and continuously improve how the business operates.

You'll also support AP/AR oversight, inventory and cost-of-goods-sold reconciliations, tax compliance, payroll accounting, budgeting, and audit preparation.

What You Bring

Qualifications & Non-Negotiables

- 7+ years of accounting experience
- CPA designation required; candidates who have passed the CFE and are completing practical experience may also be considered
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or higher
- Accounts receivable, backlog/cash recovery, claims with mass merchants, and reconciliations
- Process improvement using AI, automation, and team support
- Current experience in consumer goods, wholesale, or retail
- Current role must be in a commercial/business environment, not government, not-for-profit, or public sector
- Experience building a new team and improving or creating accounting processes
- Mandatory agentic AI experience (must use Claude )
- Strong Excel skills
- Able to work in-office in the Niagara region.
- LinkedIn profile available and shared.

Nice to Have:

- Familiarity with Power BI for reporting
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Exposure to AI or automation tools for process improvement
