Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Shop Helper / Apprentice Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will assist mechanics with vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs, wash and vacuum vehicles, pick up and deliver parts, run errands such as trips to the scrap yard, and help keep the shop clean, organized, and safe.

Responsibilities will also include general shop maintenance, organizing tools and equipment, assisting with basic mechanical tasks, and supporting the daily operations of the workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a mechanical background who is eager to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in the automotive industry.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repairs, including oil changes, tire and brake inspections, and other basic mechanical tasks.
- Wash and vacuum vehicles as required.
- Pick up and deliver automotive parts, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Make trips to the scrap yard and other locations to collect or dispose of parts and materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop, including cleaning work areas and returning tools to their proper locations.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of replacement parts, tools, and equipment.
- Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.




- Follow all safety procedures and instructions provided by mechanics and supervisors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals and repair instructions is an asset.
- Good time management skills and the ability to complete tasks efficiently.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Education and Experience:

- Related experience preferred.

Physical Ability:

- Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat while performing repairs and inspections.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a workshop environment with noise, automotive fluids, and various odours.
- Ability to follow workplace health and safety procedures.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
