About us

Permit Masters helps homeowners and contractors prepare drawings and obtain development and building permits. We are expanding our network of local Site Visit Technicians to support projects in municipalities where we do not have a team member on the ground.

About the role

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person to visit properties, measure existing buildings and site features, and document conditions for our drafting team.

This is a part-time, field-based role with assignments scheduled as projects arise. Each site visit is expected to take approximately two hours, depending on the size and complexity of the project. Hours will vary based on demand; this role is well suited to someone seeking flexible, occasional work.

Responsibilities

- Attend scheduled site visits at residential properties in your area.
- Take accurate measurements using laser measuring tools, tape measures, and the HOVER app.
- Prepare clear field notes and sketches showing dimensions, room layouts, openings, and relevant site features.
- Photograph existing conditions and capture the information requested by our drafting team.
- Review your measurements and documentation for completeness before leaving the property.
- Organize and submit photos, measurements, and notes digitally.
- Communicate professionally with clients and our team, including flagging access limitations or conditions that require clarification.




- Follow site safety requirements and respect clients’ properties and privacy.

Qualifications

- Experience taking building measurements or working with construction drawings.
- A background in drafting, architectural technology, construction, renovation, surveying, or a related field is an asset.
- Comfortable using a smartphone, mobile apps, laser measuring tools, and tape measures.
- Experience with HOVER is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, accurate, and organized records.
- Able to work independently, manage appointments, and meet agreed deadlines.
- Professional communication skills and a dependable approach to client appointments.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to move safely around properties and access the areas needed to complete measurements.

Pay and schedule

- Part time, as-needed assignments.
- Approximately two hours per site visit, depending on the project.
- Scheduling coordinated around client availability and your availability.
- Travel to properties within your agreed service area.
